PolyCore + Team Umiaq

We are excited to announce our partnership and support of Team Umiaq on their 2021 Greenland Sailing Expedition. Together with GROUNDTRUTH Global and Expedition Air, we have supplied the expedition with some very cutting-edge sustainable materials. This team has undertaken an incredible mission: 2 weeks of sailing from Iceland into the remote fjords of southern Greenland in order to study the effects of climate change as well as sample for microplastics. The self-sustained team of eight women will be testing our sustainable textiles on some of the roughest seas on earth.

 We have provided Team Umiaq with three different sustainable textile technologies to try out on their expedition: our post-consumer recycled polyester, our eco-friendly Ghost Nylon made from discarded fishing nets, and finally our water-based Eco-Coating. The team will be using these materials on their sling-bags during the expedition. We can’t wait to see how it goes!

At PolyCore, we feel lucky to have been able to partner with Team Umiaq and GROUNDTRUTH Global, and we will be following along during their entire journey. Once completed, the team at GROUNDTRUTH Productions will produce a film using powerful storytelling and visuals from this incredible environment to frame the discussion around climate change.
