Solvent-based coatings are the norm in the outdoor industry, commonly used in textile finishing processes such as coating, laminating, printing, and equipment cleaning. These CMR (carcinogenic, mutagenic and reprotoxic) solvents facilitate dispersion by acting as a base for other chemicals. As the solution dries, the solvent evaporates into the air as a Volatile Organic Compound (VOCs). They are major contributors to air pollution and pose serious health risks to those working with the coatings. VOCs have an average global warming potential of 11, meaning they are 11 times more potent than CO2 when it comes to radiating heat in the atmosphere.
Unlike solvent-based coatings, our waterborne coatings release only water vapor as they dry, entirely eliminating CMR solvents and PFAS chemicals. Not only are our coatings designed to be environmentally friendly, but they also excel in durability and performance.
